Premiere December 07, 2022, Festspielhaus St. Pölten (AT)

It is winter. Hibernum, the Snow God makes a big storm. Wanja, living on the edge of the forest, decides to hit the sack early. But just as he is meeting dreamland, there is a loud knock on the door. It is a hare, frozen to the bone, which seeks shelter in this icy winter night. Not much later, a fox and finally a bear ask for help as welll. And although the natural enemies fear each other, they must promise Vanya to keep the peace under his roof that night. Will the three wild animals succeed?

Who's that knocking at my door? is a free musical theatrical stage adaptation of the eponymous famous German picture book, written by Tilde Michels. Annechien has excitingly intersected the libretto with the idiosyncratic repertoire of the Tonkuenstler Vieanna's Trombone and Marimba ensemble.

Episode Notes Grafenegger Advent combines Christmas sounds

The ringing of bells, the rustling of wrapping paper or sipping hot mulled wine - the sound of Christmas can take many forms. What is the melody of a certain Christmas carol for some, is the crunching of snow under winter boots for others. But for some, Christmas also sounds like work. Christmas tree producer Johann Steinmetz, for example, has been supplying the Grafenegger Advent with his Nordmann firs for years and thinks primarily of sawing noises and Christmas sounds Tractor hum, as he tells in the podcast. Also to be heard: stage director Annechien Koerselman, who gives insights into the production of the family concert "Who's that knocking at my Door", which is on the program for the first time this year at the Grafenegger Advent - and also promises a whole range of exciting sounds.
