Klassik mal anders as part of the Beethoven Experiment
Premiere January 24, 2020, Kölner Philharmonie, Cologne
»BEAThoven« allows people with and without hearing impairments to have an extraordinary encounter with the music of Ludwig van Beethoven. With 31 years - even before the composer wrote his greatest masterpieces - he himself was almost completely deaf. Based on this experience, the WDR Funkhaus Orchestra presents in the jubilee year 2020 a concept in which Beethoven's music can be felt from the hair ends up in the toes. Colored basstones, pulsating lights and visible sounds – »BEAThoven« crosses all borders and allows deaf people to participate in this concert.
On the Programm: Sinfonie Nr. 5 recomposed by Stefan Behrisch/Ludwig van Beethoven, Beethoven bewegt by Stefan Behrisch & 5 by Gordon Hamilton.
Attached to the concert is an inclusive education project, in which deaf and hearing young people meet each other. Under the artistic direction of Kassandra Wedel they develop a choreography that will preformed at »BEAThoven« for the first time.
